History - A True Family Business
A McGee DIY was founded in 1994 by Arthur McGee, a time served electrician of some 20 years, moving to premises at 22 Front Street Prudhoe.

In its early years Arthur managed to keep his business going by continuing his electrical contracting business and helping his staff (1 person) as and when required. In fact this was a real family concern; his Nephew Craig was managing the day to day running while wife Mary, Son David and Mother Myra would help out at weekends and holidays.

As the business gradually grew Arthur began to look for alternative premises and in 1997 he moved the shop to its current location at 10 Front Street. There the business remained gradually growing and expanding its many stock lines until it became necessary to lease the rear building behind for stock storage and ultimately to become the successful garden and Christmas departments of A McGee.

In September 2005 Arthur decided to pass the business on to his son David, helped by four members of staff, Rachel (manageress) and assistants Jackie, Brian and Wilma.

Today Arthur McGee DIY still retains its family business ethic, where customers are assured of a warm welcome and a friendly informative service.
